Social Responsibility Platform for Workforce Giving to Provide Foundational
Technology for Forthcoming IP Acceleration Projects
NEW YORK—September 13, 2011—Ingk Labs has announced that the company has assumed control of the corporate assets formerly held by ActiveCause, a social-responsibility services company that folded earlier this year. ActiveCause was best known as the developer of Workforce Giving, an online software services platform that uses the power of game mechanics to manage and streamline the corporate-giving process, providing incentives for companies and their employees to become more socially responsible. Workforce Giving becomes the latest portfolio venture under the guidance of Ingk Labs fast-track startup teams, and will be re-tooled as a foundational technology for forthcoming projects under the Ingk Labs moniker.
“Despite enormous economic upheaval, the generosity of the American people has remained unabated with more than $300 billion each year being given to nonprofit organizations, and the vast majority of this exceptional support comes from individuals and corporate sources,” said Craig Alberino, CEO and founding partner at Ingk Labs.
Alberino continued, “An effective, well-designed corporate philanthropic program can align corporate giving with other business activities, and strengthen the ties between employees, management and the community.”
Giving USA reports that charitable giving in the United States comes from more than 75 million households and more than 1 million companies, an estimated 120,000 estates, and about 77,000 foundations. The gifts go to more than 1.2 million IRS-registered charities and an estimated additional 350,000 American religious congregations.
“A coherent workforce and corporate giving program is a formidable way for a company to go beyond simply ‘doing good’ for society. Done the right way, it’s an opportunity to enhance a company’s business strategy and reward loyal stakeholders,” said Damion Hankejh, CTO and founding partner at Ingk Labs. “The links between corporate philanthropy and a company’s human assets are reinforced when charitable giving furthers the goals and aspirations of employees who get to decide on its recipients. That’s what makes Workforce Giving so powerful.”
Workforce Giving has been designed to facilitate the charitable contributions of companies and employees, offering them new ways to work together, provide employee incentives with real-time results tracking, enhance the outcomes of corporate social-responsibility programs, and seamlessly steward the entire philanthropic process from beginning to end. The intellectual property underlying the Workforce Giving platform will provide functionality that will power a new slate of Ingk Labs portfolio ventures, the details of which will be announced at a later date.
